Who Is Third Sister? The Mysterious Rise of Reva Sevander

Reva Sevander, also known as the Third Sister, was a former Jedi youngling who survived Order 66, only to fall to the dark side and become an Inquisitor under Darth Vader’s command. She was one of the main antagonists in Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Disney+ limited series set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith

Actress Moses Ingram portrayed this character. Unlike other Inquisitors, Reva was not just serving Vader, but she was plotting against him. Her life represents a tale of fierce determination, inner conflicts, betrayal, and ultimate transformation. This blog explores how she began as a Jedi youngling, became a follower of darkness, and then ultimately found redemption.

A Jedi Youngling in the Clone Wars

Reva Sevander was born Force-sensitive and taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. During the Clone Wars, she was a youngling in the Jedi Order. She was learning the ways of the Force under Jedi Masters. As the war began, everything changed. Jedi Masters were called into action, and the Temple was left under the protection of a few Jedi Guards. Younglings continued their Jedi training without knowing the world was falling apart and something terrible was on its way to the Jedi Order.

Execution of Order 66

When Emperor Palpatine issued Order 66, everything was destroyed. The Jedi Masters were killed in the battlegrounds, and the younglings were also slaughtered in the Temple. When Vader was killing the younglings, Reva watched it all as he mercilessly cut down her friends. In rage and terror, Reva tried to protect herself by hiding under the dead bodies of other younglings.

Falling to the Dark Side

Reva survived Order 66, but it left her deeply scarred. She was filled with hatred and anger that nobody protected them. She lost faith in the Jedi Order, leaving her consumed by grief and vengeance for her entire life.

When the Jedi Order was destroyed, Reva was captured by the Empire. Unlike other survivors, Reva was given a chance to die or survive by serving the Empire. She chose the dark side and was brought before Darth Vader and the Grand Inquisitor, leaders of the Inquisitorius.

Becoming an Inquisitor: A Ruthless Jedi Hunter

Despite Reva’s hatred for Vader, she became the Inquisitor, a member of the Inquisitorius group. This group was made to hunt down the remaining Jedi. Reva, who has become the third sister, considered it a good chance to stay closer to Vader and wait for the right time to take revenge. She was not loyal to the Empire. However, she quickly proved herself a skilled and ambitious warrior in Jedi-hunting missions.

Reva was known for her brutal tactics and recklessness, to kill anyone who came in her way. She tortured the civilians for information, and her rivalry with the Grand Inquisitor became clear, as she constantly defied his authority. Despite her ruthlessness, Vader saw potential in her, allowing her to continue her relentless pursuit of Jedi survivors.

Mission to Hunt for Obi-Wan Kenobi

Reva was obsessed with finding out about Obi-Wan Kenobi, the legendary Jedi and the master of Vader. She tracked several Jedi in the hope that they might lead her to Obi-Wan Kenobi. She wanted to find Obi-Wan, drawing Vader towards it, and achieving her mission of taking revenge.

Reva discovered Nari, a Jedi hiding on Tatooine, and used him as bait to lure Kenobi out of hiding. She publicly executed Nari in Mos Eisley to send a message—no Jedi were safe. Despite the Grand Inquisitor’s warnings, Reva continued her pursuit, convinced that capturing Kenobi would bring her closer to Vader.

Finding Obi-Wan Kenobi

Reva learned that Princess Leia Organa had ties to Kenobi and kidnapped her, forcing Obi-Wan to reveal himself. This led to several encounters between Reva and Kenobi:

  • Battle on Daiyu—She nearly captured Obi-Wan, but the Grand Inquisitor intervened, trying to take credit for his capture. In response, Reva stabbed the Grand Inquisitor, seizing control of the hunt.

  • Fortress Inquisitorius Attack—Kenobi infiltrated the Inquisitor base on Nur to rescue Leia, and Reva faced off against Tala Durith and the Path rebels. Despite her efforts, Kenobi escaped.

As she continued her pursuit, Vader summoned her. He was pleased with her progress, and this was the moment she had been waiting for—she was finally close enough to kill Vader.

Confronting Darth Vader—The Ultimate Betrayal

After Kenobi escaped to Jabiim, Reva used a tracking device hidden in Leia’s droid to follow him. When Kenobi and the Path refugees were cornered, she saw her opportunity and attempted to strike Vader from behind. However, she failed because Vader already suspected her betrayal. He dodged her every attack without using his lightsaber and disarmed her without much effort. Vader demonstrated that the third sister could never match his strength. He also revealed that he sensed her intentions from Order 66 and always knew she would betray him. In the final act, Vader strikes Revan down, leaving her dead.

The Final Mission—Redemption on Tatooine

However, Reva survived as she did in her childhood during Order 66. She was extremely injured and desperate. She found the recording of the existence of the Chosen One’s son, Luke Skywalker. She believed she could take revenge on Vader by killing his son. When Reva went to Tatooine to find Luke, she saw her childhood in him just as she was attacked in the Temple. Therefore, the moment ended when she realized that she could not be like Vader and spared the life of Luke.

Reva returned to Obi-Wan Kenobi and threw down her lightsaber, finally rejecting the dark side. Kenobi told her that she had a choice now—she could decide her future. And for the first time in her life, Reva was free.

Reva Sevander’s Lightsabers

Reva utilized two lightsabers in her life. She wielded a blue training lightsaber during her time as a Jedi youngling in the Jedi Temple. In addition, she used a double-bladed red spinning lightsaber as an Inquisitor, which was given to her by Darth Vader.

Legacy of the Third Sister

Unlike most Inquisitors, Reva did not die at the hands of Vader or the Jedi. Instead, she lived a life filled with rage and hatred, still walking away from the dark side. She did something almost unheard of for Sith and Inquisitors alike. After she left Tatooine, her fate remained unknown.

The story of Reva was one of survival, struggle, vengeance, and inner conflicts. She was a victim of war, twisted by pain and anger, yet she managed to find her way back before it was too late. Though she once served the Empire, she ultimately chose a new path, proving that even in the darkest moments, there is still a chance for redemption.

Will she return in future Star Wars stories? Only time will tell.
