The blue crystal was taken from Yuster's hilt, right after he was dead. 

For the balance of the Clone Wars, Kolar would now use two crystals in his saber. Sometimes he'd alternate between the two colors, but it was never explained why. Lastly, on one of the missions, Kolar and fellow Masters Aayla Secura and Voolvif Monn faced crab droids on an icy planet only to be pinned down by bubble wort projectors. Kolar had begun using a red crimson crystal in his lightsaber, instead of a green one. But, he was seen handling a blue-bladed one only a few months later.

Secondly, his lightsaber was crucial for defending key positions in the Battle of Coruscant. He used his green sword in more than one way; to block blaster shots and by being involved in close range fight with the enemy troops. So, in this way, his green lightsaber helped him stay put in his place and support his fellow Jedi warriors.

Thirdly, Agen Kolar's lightsaber was vital during the Jedi Purge when the Jedi temple was being attacked. That's because he used his lightsaber to defend the Jedi temple and other fellow Jedi warriors from the enemy troops.
