Agen Kolar: The Zabrak Jedi Master of the Prequel Era

In this lightsaber realm, there have been plenty of powerful Jedi who have dedicated their lives protecting the Jedi Order and peace of the galaxy. The famous Jedi Masters that you may have heard about are Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, other lesser known Jedi characters have also strived for peace in the galaxy.

We believe that these lesser-known Jedi also deserve to be known for their own inspiring story and contribution to the Jedi Order. So today we are going to discuss the underdog Zabrak Jedi Master: Agen Kolar!

He remained to be a lesser-known character of the lightsaber world even after his major contributions to the Jedi Order and the Republic. He belonged to the Zabrak species, just like Darth Maul and was exceptional in combat and discipline.His role in the prequel era was very crucial, especially in the Clone wars. Even though he played a role during this era, many fans don't have much knowledge about his storyline and the missions that he took on.

Therefore, in this blog, we are going to discuss everything. From Agen Kolar's early life to him becoming a Jedi Master to his lightsaber and his duel with the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. So without wasting any more time, let's get into it!

Who was Agen Kolar?

Agen Kolar was born in Irodonia and was a member of the Zabrak species. These species are known for being Force-sensitive from a young age. At the start, he was taken to the  Jedi Temple on Coruscant to start his Jedi training. Zabraks as a species are known for their warrior-like spirit. Through Jedi training, he became skilled in the Force and his lightsaber combat.

Agen was famous for his discipline and mastering different lightsaber techniques. In this way, he first became a Jedi Knight and soon became a Jedi Master. In the starting years, he wielded a green lightsaber and later used a blue lightsaber during his time in the Jedi Order. 

This only goes to show his wisdom and fighting expertise. He was a staunch disciple of the Jedi Order. Moreover, his combat skills also made him an important figure in the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars.

Ultimately Becoming A Jedi Master

After completing his training as a Padawan, Agen Kolar eventually got promoted to the role of Jedi Knight. His promotion was due to his dedication to the Jedi Order and its strong morals. His participation in battles and missions earned him the promotion to Jedi Knight.

As a Jedi Knight, he undertakes many missions and performs important tasks throughout the galaxy. His powerful mind as well as his expertise as a lightsaber user made him an important figure during the Clone Wars. More specifically, he commanded clone troopers during battles and performed tough missions testing his budding abilities and skills.

Moreover, he earned the title of the Jedi Master after showing his exceptional leadership skills. He was perceived more or less as a mentor for young aspiring Jedi and also was involved in decision making directly impacting the Jedi Order. His role as a Jedi Master made it essential for him to be constantly watchful towards crucial missions and combating the dark side of the Force.

Agen Kolar's Role: Clone Wars and Other Battles

As a Jedi General, Agen Kolar's role in the Clone Wars and other battles was huge. He finally got this opportunity to put his lightsaber and leadership skills to test. As a veteran Jedi Master, he was quite involved in the battles occurring throughout the galaxy.

Starting from the Battle of Saleucami, Agen led his troops in a fierce combat against the Separatists. In this battle, his expert combat skills and powerful war acumen allowed the Republics to secure their place on the planet. This also kept the enemy at bay. 

Next was the Battle of Geonosis. This was an early war in the Clone Wars and the one where the Jedi and the clone troopers clashed for the first time against the Separatists. He was the Jedi General during this and undoubtedly, his presence was very needed for the overall Republican strategy during war.

On Mission to Arrest Darth Sidious 

Being a seasoned Jedi Master, Agen Kolar was always on the front lines in all major battles. But his most prominent contribution was being on the Jedi team that was sent to arrest Darth Sidious. Agen Kolar along with Mace Windu and other Jedi were sent on a mission to arrest Chancellor Palpatine, who was secretly Darth Sidious. This was one of the most dangerous assignments undertaken by the Agen during the final days of the Republic.

Kolar along with other Jedi Masters namely Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, and Saesee Tiin went to arrest Palpatine in his office. The Jedi wanted to bring Sith Lord to justice and end his reign of corruption and manipulation. But this plan was quickly turned upside down. 

As the team of Jedi Masters confronted Palpatine, he revealed his true power as Darth Sidious. In a swift and harsh way, Sidious showed his dark abilities and overpowered the Jedi. Agen Kolar was one of the first to fall and got struck down by Darth Sidious with shocking speed. This confrontation was a turning point in the Jedi’s struggle against the Sith. The Sith Lord easily stuck down every Jedi that was there to arrest him except for Mace Windu. When Mace Windu is about to kill Palpatine, Anakin Skywalker enters Palpatine’s office and kills the Jedi Master. Later, Palpatine used this incident to take control of the Senate and declared Jedi as traitors. He also use this incident as ammunition to justify Order 66. Moreover, this eventually led to the downfall of the Jedi Order and the rise of the Galactic Empire.
