Taron Malicos was a fallen Jedi in the Star Wars canon. He was once an esteemed Jedi General who used to motivate the Republic troops during the Clone Wars. The red misty planet of Dathomir was surrounded by mysterious and dark energy. It was home to the Nightsisters who were the Dathomirian witches and used to practice Magick, a Force technique and sorcery which sources power from both sides of the Force. It also resided with the Nightbrothers who served these witches. All in all, Dathomir was full of brutal warriors and Taron Malicos was stuck on this dark planet. 

Therefore, it wouldn't come as a surprise when Taron Malicos embraced the dark side on the Dathomir planet, engulfed by the dark energies. Due to his anger at the Jedi Order ineffectiveness and how the dark energies of the planet, he succumbed to the dark side. 

He used a pair of lightsabers as a Jedi Master, he probably just "bleed" both Kyber crystals after he turned to the dark side. Kyber crystals were inherently attuned to the light side of the Force, and resisted any effort by dark-side practitioners to use them in lightsabers.

But, a Sith or other dark-sider users might employ a kyber crystal only in such a manner as to use the Force to dominate the crystal, forcing it to serve their whim. This process made the crystal "bleed," as if it were alive, a result that lent its lightsabers their distinctive red or crimson blades, an image most people associate with the Sith.

Specifications of the Taron Malicos Lightsaber 

Taron Malicos's two lightsabers were red, single-bladed weapons used by the fallen Jedi and leader of the Nightbrothers on Dathomir. The hilts were based on the Magus model.

These lightsabers feature emitters with two spike-like protrusions and intricate engravings. The hilt tapers down into a square-patterned section, connected to a ringed handgrip and a pointed pommel.

These two identical lightsabers have been used by Taron Malicos by 14 BBY, who used them during his time leading the Nightbrothers. These are essentially bronze lightsabers with chrome-colored accents, black grip, and red blades.

As a former Jedi Master, Taron Malicos was an exceptionally proficient lightsaber duelist. He could use numerous combat forms. He was a master of Form III (Soresu), creating a tight barrier of defense, holding the combined attacks of Cal Kestis and Merrin. He also showed excellent capability with Form IV (Ataru), performing impossible aerobatics for someone his age. Malicos was extremely adept at Jar'Kai, fighting with two single-bladed lightsabers.

Taron Malicos was an exceptionally powerful Force user, combining his mastery of using a lightsaber and his expertise over the Force to make him a killer opponent. When he took on Cal Kestis and Merrin, he revealed deadly capabilities, not just with his two red lightsabers but by using the Force to complement his fight.

Malicos was highly skilled with his two single-bladed lightsabers, showing mastery in the Jar'Kai form; he controlled his weapons well and delivered strikes precise yet powerful. Such an ability showed how he could manipulate his environment to present obstacles for his enemies.

His fierce lightsaber skills, telekinesis, and Force powers made him a deadly force in one respect and even controlled the battlefield with incredible precision.
