Spoiler Alert: This article contains a detailed overview of Skeleton Crew episode 3. So, turn around if you haven’t watched it yet.
Previously on Epi 1: "This Could Be a Real Adventure" and Epi 2: "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier" of Skeleton Crew.
Very Interesting, As An Astrogration Problem
After the mysterious ending of the second episode, the third episode of Skeleton Crew starts with the worried parents of Wim, Neel, Fern, and KB on At Attin, who are informed by a droid that the children have crossed the barrier, which was illegal to cross. They are also told that there is no way to contact them, and this worries the parents even more.
In the next scene, the young protagonists, Wim, Neel, Fern, and KB- escape the brig with help from an enigmatic character named Jod Na Nawood, who uses the Force to assist with the escape.
Later, in a shocking turn of events it is revealed that Jod Na Nawood is Captain Silvo, the pirate captain shown in the opening scene of the series. Things get more complicated when a character named Kh’ymm (voiced by Alia Shawkat) calls him Crimson Jack, a name that resonates with Star Wars fans. Crimson Jack first appeared in the 1977 "Star Wars" Issue 7 comic, depicting him as a rival to Han Solo. This connection further enriches the connection between Star Wars lore and Skeleton Crew.
Just like any other Star Wars series, there were also easter eggs in the episode which only true Star War fans would have been able to point out. While in Port Borgo, Jod goes to a small workshop to search for SM-33, he encounters a B1 battle droid, reminiscent of those used during the Invasion of Naboo. Upon getting turned on, the droid asks about the outcome of the war which further adds to the nostalgia. Furthermore, the presence of Hondo Ohnaka's ship, the Katooni, serves as a nod to the pirate's association with a Jedi during the Clone Wars, further intertwining the series with established Star Wars narratives.
Jod Na Nawood, portrayed by Jude Law, stands out and brings a scoundrel-like energy to the series. His character's true identity remains shrouded in ambiguity, with hints that he may not be the Jedi he claims to be. But then again he never said he was a Jedi, it was Wim who said he was one. This complexity adds depth to the storyline, keeping viewers engaged.
The episode introduces Kh'ymm, an owl-shaped creature who helps the crew find the coordinates for At Attin. Her introduction helps us understand that many more species are to be explored in the galaxy far, far away.
The third episode of the series advances the plot further and does a good job of trying to maintain the viewer's interest in the series. With these exciting twists and new character introductions, the series is sure to keep the fans hooked until the very end.
This is it for now from our side, find out what happens in the forth episode of Skeleton Crew.
