Skeleton Crew A New Galactic Adventure: Explaining the First Two Episodes of the Series

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a new edition in the galaxy far, far away. This new series combines nostalgia with a breath of freshness as it has kept the old Star Wars vibe alive despite introducing a whole bunch of new characters.

Spoiler Warning: This article contains a detailed overview of the first two episodes of the series.

Episode 1: This Could Be a Real Adventure

Introduction of the Pirates

The opening scene of the series is kind of had the same vibe as A New Hope but there were a few differences. In the opening scene of A New Hope, Princess Leia’s Tantive IV is under attack by Darth Vader and his people but in Skeleton Crew, Captain Silvo and his pirates gang attack a bulk freighter to steal credits (currency in the Star Wars universe). However, even after taking control of the ship the pirates were unsuccessful in possessing the credits as there were none left on the ship. After this incident, we see the true nature of pirates as they quickly turn on their captain as he fails to deliver.

Introducing the Main Characters (The Four Children)

In the next scene, we see a futuristic planet of At Attin where Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers)  and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) are best friends. Wim lives with his father and is obsessed with Jedi. Neel, on the other hand, is a cute loving boy who lives with both his parents and 3 siblings. Wim wants to go on an adventure and explore while Neel, on the other hand, is just happy with tagging along with his friends.

Then we have Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) and KB (Kyriana Kratter). Fern is a tough and rebellious girl who likes a good challenge while KB is really into technical stuff. All four of the main characters study in the same school.

The Adventure Begins

Wim, on his way to school, discovers a door which he believes is of a Jedi Temple. Despite being told to forget about it by his father, he takes Neel and decides to explore the cave. There Fern and KB are already present trying to dig up the same thing, as Fern learned about the place from Wim at school.

All four of them manage to open the door and go inside to explore. But after reaching inside they are all locked as the hatch door is closed by a droid, who despite being in hibernation mode manages to cause trouble for the kids.

KB tells the others that we need electricity to open the door and manages to wake it up only to discover they are in a Starship. In his curiosity, Wim presses a button and the ship starts and goes into hyperspace.

Episode 2: Way, Way Out Past the Barrier

Meeting SM-33

Episode 2 begins with the crew on the Starship, flying through hyperspace. Just as the ship stops a droid emerges who introduces himself as SM-33. Fern makes the droid believe that she is the new captain of the ship and asks him to fly the ship and take them back to their homeworld. The droid, unable to recall the place, suggests that they go to a Starport named Borgo and there they will be able to get help and find their way back home.

Learning That They Were on a Pirate Ship

SM-33 flies the ship and takes them to Borgo to get help. Not knowing the dangers of the place the crew enters the starport. On Borgo, the crew get separated for a while only to meet again surrounded by danger. Every pirate in Borgo wants the kids as they are in possession of the Old Republic Credits. Just then SM-33 arrives and helps the crew to get back on the ship. On their way back, Fern asks SM-33 why he brought them to a place full of pirates and he reveals that they are also pirates. It is then the kids get to know the Starship they were on belonged to pirates. With this revelation, the droid dies as he is shot by Brutus and he orders his pirate crew to put the kid into the brig.

Jude Law’s Entry

The kids are scared and stuck in the brig thinking of ways through which they can find their way back home. As they are arguing a voice appears from the shadows asking them to stop fighting as he will help them get back home only if they take him with them. The voice is revealed to be of Jude Law just as he emerges from the shadows asking the kids if they can keep a secret.

This is it for now from our side, find out what happens in the third episode of Skeleton Crew.
