One of Vernestra’s first tasks as a Jedi Knight was to protect a group of diplomats and their families on the large and luxurious ship, Steady Wing. The vessel was heading to the Starlight Beacon's inauguration. It was a symbol of hope for the galaxy. However, the Nihil undermined the Steady Wing, leading to its destruction.
Vernestra and a few survivors, including Avon Starros (a young creator), Imri Cantaros (a Padawan), and Honesty Weft (the child of a murdered diplomat)—crash-landed on a perilous, deserted moon.
