Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber is an integral part of him, much like his attractive and powerful personality. Luke Skywalker's green lightsaber was his first lightsaber he built; moreover, it was the second he possessed.
During the time of the Galactic Civil War, Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker created a green lightsaber regarded as a Jedi lightsaber for himself. It was also popularly known as Luke Skywalker’s second lightsaber or Luke Skywalker's lightsaber. After misplacing his father's lightsaber on Cloud City, Skywalker fashioned a replacement. It was modeled after Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi's third lightsaber, though its kyber crystal produced a green plasma blade rather than the blue blade created by Kenobi's.
Luke Skywalker accomplished the "Lightsaber formation Trial," one of several compulsory trials to become a Jedi, by manufacturing his own lightsaber. This lightsaber is green, which is intended to represent a Jedi who focuses on the force rather than martial arts or diplomacy.
During his expedition to save Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, Luke conceals his lightsaber inside R2-D2's dome and capitulates it to Darth Vader as part of his endeavour to reactivate Anakin Skywalker's spirit.

History of Luke Skywalker Lightsaber
Over the history of Star Wars saga, Luke Skywalker acquired three different types of lightsabers which are: LSW blue lightsaber, LSW green lightsaber and LSW yellow lightsaber.
Luke Skywalker First Lightsaber (Blue Blade)
Throughout the Clone Wars, Anakin Skywalker (who was actually father of Luke) wielded this blue-bladed Jedi sword. As a result of combat, Vader really lost a valuable weapon. Obi-Wan Kenobi grabbed Anakin's lightsaber and stored it on Tatooine for about two decades after battling his old disciple on Mustafar. The lightsaber attracted the attention of the scavenger, Rey-when it was subsequently added to Maz Kanata's Jedi relics collection. She used it to defeat Kylo Ren, then returned it to Ahch-To and offered it to Luke. When he refused, Rey took the antique weapon for herself. When Rey and Kylo fought for custody of the lightsaber onboard the Supremacy, it sheared apart, but Rey recast it as she completed her Jedi training.
Obi-Wan presented the lightsaber to Anakin's son Luke, who misplaced it after Darth Vader severed his son's hand in Cloud City. Luke used it in his initial steps toward becoming a Jedi. However, Obi-Wan did not inform Luke of his father's transformation as Darth Vader. When Luke fought Vader on Cloud City, he was wielding his father's lightsaber, which he lost when the Sith Lord severed his hand.
LUKE SKYWALKER LOST HIS FATHER’S LIGHTSABER AND HIS RIGHT HAND
Luke Skywalker Second Lightsaber (Green Blade)
In Star Wars: Episode V- “The Empire Strikes Back”, Luke Skywalker lost his blue blade lightsaber along with his right hand. Afterwards, he constructed his own lightsaber, as is expected of all Jedis. Luke created the green lightsaber on Tatooine using the same procedures the Jedi have used for ages.
In an attempt to save Han Solo on Tatooine, he used his green blade lightsaber to assassinate Jabba D. Tiure's bodyguards. Vader lost his lightsaber in the Battle of Endor as a result of his vanquish by Skywalker in their final lightsaber fight. Whilst striving to reinstate the Jedi Order, Luke Skywalker kept his lightsaber in the aftermath of the Galactic Civil War.
When Skywalker discerned the evil side of the Force blossoming in Padawan Ben Solo (Luke’s nephew), he spontaneously operated his lightsaber but refrained himself from murdering his pupil. When Solo saw the Skywalker's green blade lightsaber, he became persuaded that his Master wanted to murder him, and he used his own lightsaber to try to kill Skywalker first.
Skywalker transported his lightsaber to the planet Ahch-To after losing his nephew to the dark side, where he lived in self-inflicted exile and seclusion. Skywalker's lightsaber was taken over by the native Caretakers after his death.
NOTE: Luke obtained two noteworthy lightsabers during his film arc, but in a recent comic, the character wielded a third weapon.
Luke Skywalker Third Lightsaber (Yellow Blade)
Yellow colored blade of Luke Skywalker's lightsaber initially appears in the sixth issue of the Star Wars saga comic book series.
Luke Skywalker utilized a one-bladed Jedi Temple Guard lightsaber he discovered in a Jedi outstation on Tempes. The weapon (lightsaber) was fueled by a kyber crystal, and when lit, it projected a plasma blade emitting yellow color like the lightsabers of all other Jedi Temple Guards.
Following the loss of his genuine lightsaber on Cloud City, Luke used a yellow bladed lightsaber albeit it was never depicted in any live-action Star Wars films. Despite the fact that the Jedi was unable to regain his weapon, he was guided to the Outer Rim by a prescience from a woman called Verla. Luke came upon an ancient outstation from the High Republic period during his travel and grabbed a weapon originally used by the guards of Jedi Temple. In the canon comic book series, it's ambiguous what happened to Luke Skywalker’s yellow bladed lightsaber.
Construction of LSW Green Lightsaber
After losing his first lightsaber in a fight with his father, Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader, on Bespin during the time of the Galactic Civil War, Luke Skywalker set out to develop a new weapon. For a time, he utilized a yellow lightsaber he acquired on a High Republic Jedi outpost. Despite the fact that his masters, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, had only instructed him a bit about how a Jedi had to use the Force to build a lightsaber, he succeeded in constructing it.
On Tatooine, the schematics (blueprints) for this weapon were uncovered in Luke's mentor's cabin. Whilst the finished product was considerably accurate to the blueprints, since this was Luke's first attempt at making a lightsaber, he simplified it greatly. For example, he chose to use a single crystal for his lightsaber rather than the optimal three to allow for a fully changeable blade. Luke was able to obtain the majority of the components he needed to construct his weapon from several sellers in Mos Eisley, including power cells, a high-energy reflector cup, and a focusing lens. Luke, on the other hand, was not able to secure the single most important component that would complete the entire design: crystal for the lightsaber
Luke struggled over the components for several days, inspecting and then re-checking the directions numerous times, taking no shortcuts. The weapon was still unfinished more than a month after he started. During the months that followed the Battle of Hoth and his duel, Skywalker used his intelligence to find the correct pieces—some easily obtained, others far more difficult to obtain-to construct his lightsaber.
Working of Luke’s Green Blade Lightsaber
When Luke Skywalker triggered the weapon for the first time, it operated flawlessly. The green blade generated no heat, indicating that the inside superconductors were functioning properly, and it easily cut through a wrist-thick granite spire. The weapon was also better balanced than Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber, according to Luke. When engaged, the lightsaber created a peculiar snap-hiss sound, possibly due to the use of a synthetic crystal, which was distinct from the sound given by his father's weapon.
MAJOR FEATS
1. Mission of Outer Rim
During an expedition aboard the Imperial Refining Platform M36, Luke utilized the lightsaber in conjunction with his Force powers to beat multiple KX-series security droids, paving the way for Rebel forces to obtain plentiful Imperial fuel supplies. His Rebel teammates were awestruck by his use, however one of them, the major in control of the mission, was skeptical of its effectiveness because he had only previously seen such power used by the Sith.
A vision from the emperor infiltrated Luke Skywalker's brain in “The Force Awakens”. Luke was seen abandoning his strike team and crash-landing their X-wing on an unknown planet in the vision. He left his lightsaber and helmet on the ground as a mark of his complete withdrawal from the war's worries.

He then operated his lightsaber to sever the EE-3 carbine rifle and Boba Fett's bungee cord. He also deflected Jabba's guards' blaster fire on the Khetanna, killing some of them, including Klaatu.
3. Battle of Endor
When an Imperial scout trooper's 74-Z speeder bike fired blaster fire while on Endor, Luke Skywalker operated his lightsaber to defend himself from approaching fire. Luke Skywalker slashed the forepart of stabilizers off the scout as it approached, resulting in it and the driver to lose control and slam into a tree, demolishing the speeder bike and annihilating the trooper.
The Imperial troopers took Luke Skywalker's lightsaber after he handed himself in to the Endor garrison. Darth Vader, his father, then examined the weapon and certified it a Jedi's weapon, just as his father's had been constructed for him.
Palpatine encouraged Luke Skywalker to use his lightsaber to slay him during the time when the Alliance Fleet was losing combat at the hands of the Imperial Navy, so that, like his father, he can give in to his fury and succumb to the evil side. Skywalker eventually snatched the weapon and struck the emperor in a moment of weakness, only for Vader to block his strike and fight him. After nearly assassinating his father, Skywalker recognized what he was becoming, and threw aside his lightsaber and declared himself a Jedi. Skywalker retrieved his lightsaber after the emperor was killed by his father.

As they approached the Imperial base, Skywalker handed his lightsaber to R2-D2. R2-D2 released his weapon immediately when Luke Skywalker demonstrated that he was a Jedi, and it was operated by Luke Skywalker to resist the Imperial forces at the same time Lieutenant Shara Bey gathered the pieces of tree. Luke Skywalker's blade also pierced a cannon and dispatched numerous charging stormtroopers.
7. Training of Leia Organa
Following some time after his sister's (Leia) marriage to Han Solo, Skywalker volunteered to instruct Leia Organa as his first trainee in the paths of the Force. Luke Skywalker utilized his lightsaber to train her on the moon's forests, one night in Ajan Kloss. The lightsaber contained a sturdy hilt without cross guards as well as a laser beam that is only a few millimeters in length that could pierce almost anything it came into touch with. The beams were created by a massive explosion of concentrated energy. This energy was focused by a crystal inserted in the weapon's hilt.
