Exar Kun was a well-known Sith Lord in the galaxy. It was not just because of his combat abilities and Sith sorcery but mainly due to his unique lightsaber. He was the first Sith Lord who did not follow the traditional Sith path to wield a red lightsaber. His blue blade remained a reflection of his ambition, arrogance, and power.

However, when he fell into the darkness, he did something worth mentioning in history. He didn't create a red blade like other Sith Lords. Instead, he used his blue blade, which showed his strength, and changed it into something new that had never been seen in the saga. 

In Legends, Exar Kun was the first known Force-user who used a blue double-bladed weapon. This distinctive design of the lightsaber allowed him to ignite the blade from both sides. It also enabled him to switch between single and dual blades seamlessly during any fight. This unique feature made Exar Kun famous for utilizing a highly unpredictable combat style. 

When the weapon was first used as a double-bladed saber, its energy output made one blade glow white and the other blue. This was likely due to the unstable energy flow from the modification. Conventional lightsabers weren’t designed to share power between two emitters. However, with time and more refinements, Kun’s saber was depicted emitting two blue blades.

Kun’s lightsaber played a direct role in many of his defining battles, marking key moments in his rise and fall. Before turning to the dark side, Kun trained with his single-bladed blue saber. He used it in duels against his Jedi Master, Vodo-Siosk Baas. 

Kun also fought the dark spirit of Freedon Nadd, an ancient Sith Lord, with his original single-bladed blue saber. He revealed his modified double-bladed saber during his last fight with his old master. Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas tried to stop Kun from taking Ulic Qel-Droma during a Galactic Senate trial. Then, Kun used his new weapon for the first time, surprising everyone.

Kun struck quickly and moved with great agility. He overwhelmed Baas and easily killed his old master. This duel showed how deadly his new weapon was. Even skilled Jedi Masters couldn't counter his surprising moves. 

In Kun's last fight, he used his double-bladed lightsaber to protect his temple on Yavin 4 from the Jedi Order's forces. Despite his combat superiority, he was ultimately overwhelmed, and his lightsaber was lost, but his legacy endured for millennia.

Exar Kun’s lightsaber was more than a tool used to fight. It was a powerful symbol of his ambition, innovation, and rejection of traditions. His saber revealed that a warrior’s creativity could change the fate of the galaxy. 

Exar Kun was defeated in the end, but his dual-bladed lightsaber remained a key part of Sith's history. His weapon inspired future Sith. For example, in The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul used a dual-bladed saber during the famous Duel of the Fates. 

When Kun switched between one and two blades, it set the standard for aggressive combat style in history. After thousands of years, his saber still influenced Sith combat. This impact was seen in the Rule of Two era, inspiring warriors like Darth Bane and Darth Sidious.
