All Female Jedi in Star Wars: Complete List (Canon & Legends)

All Female Jedi in Star Wars: Complete List (Canon & Legends)

Females of exceptional fortitude have always found refuge within the ranks of the Jedi Order, and their influence upon the course of galactic history cannot be overstated. But there is a problem: ask anyone who follows the Star Wars franchise outside of the main six films and their respective prequels to give you more than a few names, and you might just end up watching them squirm. This guide will aim to fix all that by separating the canon from the non-canonical legends of the Expanded Universe, explaining their function, appearances, and most importantly their distinctions. If you're also curious about powerful women beyond the Jedi Order, our broader guide to female Star Wars characters covers thirty of them across every faction.

What Actually Counts as a Jedi?

Not every Force-user gets the title. It innunnciates that we’re only diving into information about characters who were officially trained by the Jedi Order. So dark side users like Asajj Ventress? No — though her story and her curved blades are worth knowing on their own terms.  And other Force traditions, such as the Dathomirian Nightsisters, don’t make the cut either. Padawans, Knights, and Masters are all included. Younglings only appear if they eventually became full Jedi. To keep things clean, we’ve split canon and Legends into separate sections.

Former Jedi in Canon

Some characters trained as Jedi but later walked away—or turned against the Order entirely. Since most readers want to focus on active Jedi, we’ve set these cases apart. The women listed below may no longer serve the light. Still, their Jedi training is valid. It's just that they stopped being loyal to the Jedi Order.

Anakin Skywalker was a mentor to Ahsoka Tano, who spent her time being trained as his padawan. She left the Jedi Order but never fell to the dark side. Those dual white lightsabers? Each one was an emblem of her exceptional journey — purified crystals that no longer answered to any Order, only to her.  She appeared in episodes like The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, The Rebels, and Ahsoka.

Trilla Suduri trained under Cere Junda. After the Empire tortured her, she became the Second Sister Inquisitor. Cal Kestis helped her find the light again—briefly. Then Darth Vader ended her life for that moment of redemption in Jedi: Fallen Order.

Reva Sevander, the Third Sister, survived the Temple assault as a terrified youngling. She became an Inquisitor just to get close to Vader. Her revenge plot ultimately failed.

Barriss Offee trained under Luminara Unduli as her Padawan. To express her disagreement, she bombed the Jedi Temple hangar as a protest against the Clone Wars.  The entire Order was shocked. You can catch her in Attack of the Clones and The Clone Wars.

Why Female Jedi Matter to Star Wars

Female Jedi have shown bravery since the Prequel Trilogy began. Young girls today can see themselves in characters like Ahsoka, Avar Kriss, and Vernestra. The Jedi Order has always said gender doesn’t affect the Force. But representation still matters to audiences everywhere. Each new female Jedi challenges old stereotypes about warriors and heroes — even something as specific as the meaning behind a purple lightsaber carries layers of representation that fans didn't miss. The future promises even more women stepping into the spotlight. This list will keep growing as new canon stories roll out each year. Legends may no longer be official, but the female Jedi from those tales still inspire. From Nomi Sunrider to Satele Shan, their legacy lives on. May the Force be with them all. And if reading through this list has you wanting a blade of your own, NEO Sabers carries realistic lightsabers worthy of the Jedi on this list.
