There is little information about his early life as a Padawan. But, we know that Dagan Gera was born during the High Republic Era. He became a Jedi Knight during the Nihil conflict. Gera was also known for his exploration of the Outer Rim Territories. The Jedi Knight wielded a double-bladed yellow lightsaber that could also be split into two.
Gera duelled with the formidable Gen'Dai warrior Rayvis and to everyone's surprise, he was able to defeat him in a one-on-one duel. His victory gained him Gen'Dai's respect as he was the first person to defeat him.
Dagan's Discovery of Tanalorr
As mentioned, Dagan Gera was a renowned Jedi Knight who was known for exploring the unknown, especially the Outer Rims. In one of his explorations, he bravely navigated through the Koboh Abyss. Koboh Abyss is a mysterious and dangerous area that only a few people knew about. While navigating through this treacherous location, he discovered the mystical Tanalorr!
Gera fell in love with Tanalorr and dreamt of making a Jedi Temple there to train young Jedi. To make this possible, Dagan together with a Jedi Master named Santari Khri worked to make special compasses. The compasses were built in order to identify and make a safe passage from Koboh Abyss to the Talanorr.
Fall of the Jedi: Dagan Gera

While dreaming of establishing a Jedi Temple at Talanorr, Nihil, a group of marauders, invaded Tanalorr. As a result, Gera was asked by the Jedi Council to abandon the newfound place and destroy the special compasses. This made Dagan feel betrayed by the Jedi Council and he refused to abide by their decision.
This led him to fall to the dark side of the Force and fight any Jedi who came to destroy the compasses. In a desperate attempt to bring Dagan Gera to the light side, Master Santari Khri severed his right arm and placed him in a bacta tank.
Kestis and Dagan's First Encounter
Many years later, the hero of ‘Jedi: Survivor’ Cal Kestis encounters Dagan Gera while exploring Koboh. While on Koboh, Kestis touches the bacta tank where Dagan is held in and after touching it he gets visuals of Degan troubled past. Kestis also see how Talanorr was invaded by the Nihil group and who placed the Jedi Knight in the tank. Gera senses Cal and requests him to free him from this state.
After freeing Dagan from the tank, Kestis explains the fall of the Jedi Order to him and returns his lightsaber to him. Cal tries to stop him from bleeding his kyber crystal but he is unable to do that. This led to him fully embracing the dark side. His fall to the dark side makes his lightsaber turn red, showing his rage and indicating a shift in his character and within the main storyline.
After this Gera and Kestis duel but it is cut short by Rayvis’ arrival. He took Gera, the fallen Jedi to the Bedlam Raiders' base of operations.
Cal Kestis and Dagan Gera's Second Encounter
As Dagan Gera gains more importance and power in the Bedlam Raiders, he tries to get the lost compass back to Talanorr. For this purpose, he kidnaps Zee, a droid of Master Santari Khri.
Cal Kestis comes to rescue Zee and a really fierce lightsaber duel takes place between Dagan and Cal. During the duel, Dagan Gera tells Cal about how he wants to create an elite army of Force users to challenge the Empire. But Cal objects that it would make Dagan Gera no different from the Empire itself.
Lastly, Dagan Gera tries to gain the upper hand by taunting Cal about his lack of emotional control. But Cal Kestis, for a brief moment during the duel, disguises himself as Master Santari Khri. This caught Dagan Gera by surprise and in that moment of distraction, Cal strikes Dagan Gera, leading to his death.
